Salvor Projects – ELETTROILLUMINATI
Last night the streets of Chelsea were empty-snow covered sidewalks, gusts of wind, flurries amidst, and no cabs in sight. Arriving drenched in melted, snowy slush, I finally arrived at 520 West 27th Street-mascara running, shoes soaked, always fashionable. This trek of course was for Salvor Projects FW10 Presentation, entitled Elettroilluminati. Entering through a dark curtain into an ethereal world-projections of landscapes, space, a kaleidoscope of dream-like imagery. Eight models were suspended from the ceiling, hung by black rope-lounging in clear vinyl harnesses, clothed in the latest Salvor Collection-vibrant, rich prints illuminated by the projected film.
Salvor Projects was a winner of Ecco Domani’s Rising Design Star Grant. Given the opportunity to produce a presentation for Fashion Week, Ross Menuez of Salvor Projects described his vision to Style.com: “It’ll be dark, and kind of like the girls are sleeping, and the film is like their shared dream, a collective unconscious. And when people enter, it’ll be like they’re entering the same dream.”
The trek was worth it, much like a dream in itself.
