Last weekend we went to a birthday party at SPiN, NYC’s massive table tennis social club right by Madison Square Park. Along with people hitting balls in heels and with drinks in hand there was also a Friday night cash tournament featuring a pretty impressive display of playing talent — guys living up to the hype with fast action, long impressive rallys, and their defensive play from 15 feet behind the table.

It was also a happy surprise to find out that aside from having a bar, dj, and stainless steel ping pong table the side party room was named after and dedicated to Fred Perry, a Gargyle fave and one of our inspirations. You see, before Fred immortalized himself on Wimbledon’s Centre Court and became an international fashion icon he was a world table tennis champ at the ripe age of 20. The folks at Fred Perry have kept his dashing spirit strong with his timeless polos and more recently with their heritage inspired Laurel Collection, which we love.
