The Royal Mail kicks off its 2010 stamp program with a set of ten 1st class stamps designed by Studio Dempsey that celebrate classic British album covers. Gargyle’s favorite- New Order’s Power, Corruption and Lies, designed by Peter Saville (top right stamp).
We’re avid record collectors, so news of this project really made for a good start to the week. Sure, we listen to MP3s and they have their place, but nothing comes close to the sound quality of vinyl records, the thrill of the hunt for a limited release pressing, the joy of flipping that 12″ square back and forth to admire the artwork, and last but certainly not least, the B-sides.
This is probably a good time to let you in early on a special event we’re having in a couple weeks… We’re hosting a pop-up record fair at Gargyle showroom on Friday and Saturday, November 27-28th. If you’re a music lover, you won’t want to miss this. If you’ve never owned records or a record player, come by and experience it for yourself. More details on the record fair to come, but in the meantime check below and click here for more on the brilliant Royal Mail/Studio Dempsey project.
